Where the law of the land ends, the story begins. Join Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Ian Urbina with a new season of his riveting podcast anthology, The Outlaw Ocean, which explores the most lawless place on earth - the vast unpoliceable ocean. Season 2 covers secretive Libyan prisons swallowing up sea-faring migrants; flagrant human rights abuses in China’s massive off-shore fleet; the horrors of a shrimp processing plant in India; and the wild story of a modern-day James Bond - if he were the repo man. Two things to find at the link in our bio: Ian Urbina breaking down each episode in Parley’s latest newsletter, ‘Wavelengths,’ and the podcast itself.

We are incredibly thrilled to receive the Dupont Award for the investigation on China and human rights and environmental crimes tied to its dominance of global seafood. This award, sometimes called the Pulitzer of Broadcast media, is credit to 4-years of incredible reporting by the full OO reporting team. The videos that made up the package that won owe a special hat tip to video director Ben Blankenship (@thebenblankenship )

People often ask where we find hope amid so much reporting about darkness. One answer is The Outlaw Ocean Institute. This program allows us to collaborate with inspiring people around the world doing brave and innovative work. Today we release a video about the recent batch of Institute fellows.

Really proud of this piece, which took a lot of guts and stamina for our team to publish. We put out the fuller written version of the investigation last week. Since then, we collaborated with NBC News to produce a TV version of the investigation and tonight it aired. The piece focuses on the variety of food safety & labor rights abuses at a shrimp processing plant in India that were unveiled by a whistleblower, Joshua Farinella, and that were also brought to light by the thousand of documents he provided us.

Is there a wider problem with Indian shrimp?
