Reunited Portishead Share “Roads” Performance From Together For Palestine

Last night, Brian Eno staged his all-star Together For Palestine benefit concert at London’s OVO Arena, and it streamed live around the world. The members of Portishead were unable to be there in person, but they wanted to be part of it, so they got back together in the weeks before the show and recorded a live, pre-taped version of “Roads,” a song from their classic 1994 debut album Dummy. This was the first Portishead performance of any kind since their five-song set at a 2022 War Child benefit for Ukraine. Today, Portishead have shared the live video that played in the arena. They’re backed up by a keyboardist and a string section, and they sound incredible. The video is cool, too. Watch it below.

Just a few weeks ago, Brian Eno announced his plans for Together For Palestine, a massive all-star benefit concert to raise money for the victims of Israel’s campaign of genocide in Palestine. The show came together quickly. Eno helped put together a lineup that includes performances from people like Damon Albarn, Jamie xx, and James Blake, as well as a pre-taped Portishead reunion and appearances from stars like PinkPantheress and Benedict Cumberbatch. The show is happening right now at London’s OVO Wembley Arena, and you can watch the livestream. Here it is:

Turnstile’s Brendan Yates Pulled Off The First Stagedive In Tiny Desk History

One of the coolest things about witnessing Turnstile’s rise has been watching the band figure out how to play music intended for a specific context — the type of hardcore show where so many people stagedive that two different divers often land right on top of each other — in different situations, like giant festival stages or late-night talk shows. Next week, Turnstile will kick off a big North American tour where they’ll headline an amazing, carefully selected bill. Today, we get to watch them reinvent their sound and style enough to play a Tiny Desk Concert at NPR’s offices in Washington, DC.
